An article about WMD's participation in the Eugene Investment Seminar was published in EDonga on May 29, 2025.
On the 22nd, WMD, an M&A advisory firm with AI-based matching and valuation solutions, participated as a speaker at the Seminar on Investment and M&A Trends in Unlisted Companies, held at the HRD Center, 16th Floor, Eugene Investment Co., Ltd., Headquarters.
During the seminar, WMD presented key trends based on actual data from the domestic small and medium-sized M&A market and provided an in-depth analysis that garnered significant attention.
WMD is an M&A advisory firm for SMEs and venture companies, founded by a team of Attorney at Law, KICPA, and Appraiser. The firm utilizes its self-developed AI-based M&A matching platform, Deal Scope, to enhance efficiency and success rates in M&A, connecting potential buyers with the most suitable targets.
This platform is an integrated solution for M&A professionals. It uses AI to analyze potential buyers’ investment preferences and acquisition strategies, recommending the most likely matches. By automating contracts such as NDA and LOI and incorporating name card verification and phased information disclosure, the platform significantly shortens transaction periods and ensures security.
Additionally, through its automated valuation system, ATLAS, WMD quickly and objectively calculates target prices to provide clients with tailored solutions. This contributes to addressing information asymmetry in Korea’s M&A market, improving deal success rates, and supporting efficient PMI processes.
John, Deputy CEO of WMD (Attorney at Law, KICPA, and Appraiser), delivered a presentation based on publicly disclosed data on startup and small and medium-sized M&A transactions as of 2025. He provided a detailed analysis of deal status by sector and major case studies, along with real-world examples of both successful and failed deals, explaining the reasons behind them. In particular, he categorized failure factors across the pre-M&A preparation, negotiation and contract signing, and PMI stages, attracting great interest from the audience.
John emphasized, “The small and medium-sized M&A market often faces unexpected variables due to industry-specific characteristics and external environments. WMD will continue to provide the industry and investors with practical, actionable information and solutions by analyzing transaction structures and industry trends based on real-world data.”
On the same day, Eugene Investment Co., Ltd. - Research Analyst Jongsun Park presented the latest trends in investments in unlisted domestic companies. Emocog - CEO Yoohun Noh also shared insights into the company’s digital therapeutics for degenerative brain diseases such as cognitive impairment and dementia. Following this, ProGen - Dr. Saewon Kim, a KONEX-listed company and a subsidiary of YUHAN, introduced the development status of treatments for diabetes and obesity.
Meanwhile, WMD, together with Eugene Investment Co., Ltd., will continue to hold regular seminars on the fourth Thursday of every odd month, sharing practical insights on investment trends in unlisted companies and the M&A landscape for small and medium-sized enterprises. Through these seminars, WMD aims to consistently provide useful insights to professionals in the field.
